White Ghost-2 Newsletter

Welcome to our newsletter launch for 2009. In our newsletter we will keep anglers informed on what is happening in the fishing world in and around Rhode Island. Subscribers will be the first to learn and know about what is happening as well as new tactics and tips that aren't available anywhere else. If you have a friend or fishing buddy that would like to be on this list tell them to sign up today.

First, let me tell you how we have grown in a very short period of time. This site was launched in March of 2008 to promote my new book, "Monster Shallow Water Striper's". What we didn't expect is that it has turned into something a lot more than just promoting the book. The response to this site has been nothing short of totally amazing. As I write this, we have gone over 90,000 visitors viewing this site. THAT'S 90,000!!!  That's roughly, 9,000 hits per month. So I guess that there is a lot of guys who are interested in fishing for striped bass in shallow water out there.

As we go along, this site will evolve into the headquarters or the definitive place to get information on shallow water striper fishing. Through our newsletter, the Article page, and the Fish Talk Forum you will find info on helping make this site the place to be to discuss and learn about striped bass fishing, from boat, shore, or whatever. The coverage will be as broad as the fishery itself. We don't believe, or conform to the notion that surf is harder than boat fishing or boat fishing is somehow better or easier than surf fishing. Fishing is fishing and each one has its own set of problems and unique quirks that make it challenging. As far as I'm concerned how YOU determine or decide on how you want to fish or like to fish is perfectly fine. After all, it is YOUR decision and no one else's. As long as you're fishing and out there enjoying yourself, what do you care what anyone else thinks or believes.

Many of you who know me already know that I tell it like it is and pretty much don't care who likes it or who doesn't. I grew up with the notion that bait fishermen were somehow less of an angler than those who used only lures and plugs. I never understood that concept nor did I ever agree with it. If a guy enjoyed fishing with cut bait on the bottom or live-lined bait from a bridge, so what? He was out there enjoying himself the same way the guy who was tossing Atom 40's from the surf or the beach. Were the bait guys a bit more successful? Of coarse they were. How does a piece of wood or plastic compete with a fresh piece of meat? The answer is it doesn't. That doesn't mean that the plug guy is somehow better or the bait guy is somehow lower in status because of the way they choose to fish.

Fish the way YOU like to fish and pay no attention to those who tell you or say that it's somehow a lesser or evil type of fishing. There is no such thing. Whatever method you choose to pursue, make sure that you learn as much as you can about it and then spend as much time as you can doing it. In the final analysis, the amount of time you spend fishing is what makes the difference on how successful you will be. And no amount of reading, watching, talking, and wishing will ever replace time spent on the water. That's just the way it is.

If you read my new book, you will see and read that point about time spent on the water, over and over again. In its there as much as it is because it's SO IMPORTANT and don't let anyone tell you that it isn't.

Finally, if you have previously signed up to pre-order a book, now is the time to go to the Oder Book page and order your signed, autographed copy. We had well over 150 pre-orders for the book but only 9 guys have gone to the site to order their copy. Your book will be signed by myself and Bill Nolan as well. Refer to the post on the site about what we are offering to those who purchase their book from this site. It will be worth your time.
