 Jim White

By Nick Curcione

Over the years I’ve been fortunate to fish with some of the best guides in the business and for pure passion and love of the sport, Jim White is the one who first comes to mind. I met Jim back in 2000 when I moved to CT. and fished with him on Lefty Kreh’s recommendation. Jim is a veritable encyclopedia of knowledge when it comes to his Rhode Island home waters and he’s put me on to some of my best days ever fly fishing stripers in the shallows. If the big guys are around you can bet that Jim is dialed in to their exact location and my largest bass have all been taken on his boat.

Aside from his expertise, one of the qualities I most admire about Jim is his dedication to preserving the fishery for future generations. He has unselfishly devoted thousands of hours to conservation efforts and projects. He said to me once that he wants his grandson to enjoy the same great experiences he’s had in his lifetime on the water. I think that says it all.

"After 15-years of filming our television show, "One More Cast", I can honestly say that I had never caught so many fish on one shoot, as I did with Capt. Jim White. That record still stands to this day. His knowledge of shallow water stripers is beyond belief and his skills certainly makes him a true professional in every sense of the word. The knowledge he shares in his new book, "Monster Shallow Water Stripers", is without a doubt some of the best information out there on this fishery today. Anyone who does this type of fishing or is considering fishing in shallow water should have a copy of his work. It will likely save you years of trial and error fishing and boost your success rate dramactically. Capt Jim is one of the best anglers I've ever fished with."

My copy of Monster Shallow Water Stripers arrived yesterday too. I started reading it and couldn't put it down until after midnight when I finished. It is an exciting book. It put me inside the thought process of striper fishing more than any other book I've read. By the time I finished I was wired. I felt like I was on the water and had caught a couple of big fish already just knew amazing things were going to happen. I had trouble sleeping. I wanted to fish all night.

The first time through was like reading a best seller; I just wanted to see how things turned out. Now comes the part that I look forward to the most -- studying it and prioritizing what things I will try to incorporate into my fishing next year. I can see myself rereading it each off season for several years and always finding new things to work on. It is a book of extraordinary insight about the art and craft of striper fishing and we have the bonus that this treasure trove of information is all stuff learned on our local waters. Monster Shallow Water Stripers is already changing the way I think about fishing and undoubtedly help me to become better at it. It promises to become one of the most dog-eared books in my fishing collection.

Well worth the money. Keep up the excellent writing. I've already devoured half the book. I suspect that this will be a go to reference for years to come.
Jim: This is absolutely the best book on striped bass, I've ever read. It's well written, entertaining, a ton of information, and it has changed the way that I fish. I can't tell you how happy I am with this book.   C.R. New Jersey

Capt Jim: Just wanted to let you know that I've caught more fish after reading your book than I have in the last 15-years. I buy an awful lot of books throughout the year and this one is by far the best money I've ever spent on a book about fishing. Hope you write another one.

Capt. White: I just wanted to congradulate you on a fine piece of work on Monster Shallow Water Stripers. I love the unique way you have of putting things, right to the point, no punches, up front and personnal. Enjoyed it tremendously.  H.N. P. Delaware

Hey Jim: I've read this book three times now. And each time I read it I learn something new from it. Hard to believe I missed some stuff the first two times, but it takes me awhile to absorb all this information. This has to be one of the best fishing books I've ever read. Thank you for all the hard work you must have put into it. S.T. Connecticut
