Anyone else notice the lack of boats out there? It looks like activity is down 50-60%. I've been out on gorgeous days and barely any other boats out there. usually there are a bunch of bottom fisherman @ Beavertail and today there was 2-3 boats and it was flat as a pond. Gas $ is taking its toll.

I certainly Noticed...Was out yesterday morning, gorgeous morning on the Bay, no wind and a holiday weekend....All I saw was quohogers..Some of it I am sure is the lack of fish. Blues should be all over the Top by now and I saw nothing! Not that I want to chase blues but usually this time of the year I would think pods of Blues would be all over the place..I smoked the Scup however! Never thought I would say I like Scup fishing, but its a blast! Making Money helps also :)

Even though the fuel prices have come down somewhat, Its still expensive and I am sure it has something to do with it..Running around all day for not much fish activity is just not a wise way to burn up fuel..

Busy weekends will still be busy; Folk and jazz were both mobbed down at Fort A. ( I know cause I had to come through the folk festival on 1 engine. Fun when you cant make sharp turns to starboard.)

Less boats offshore, but not by much. Still gotta pay to play.

Did someone say SCUP , not only fun to catch but tasty too
light gear and you might even get a Black sea bass in the mix also great table fare , and the catch limit is outstanding for a REC fisherman.

Bill, I'm happy for you. Sounds like you are making some money and enjoying yourself. That's what it's all about. Everyone needs to have fun fishing, regardless of how they fish or what they fish for.

I'm fortunate that I have a friend with a boat and the knowledge to go offshore. It's a whole different world.

I have been finding decent fish mid to high 20s in the Bay but it's a long run and a lot of work for a couple of fish. The offshore fishing is a better bet right now and it's got the added benefit of potential Tuna steaks.

Never asked you to be happy for me paul...I could care less how you feel about it how you feel about me or anything else, I am happy about it and thats all that matters!...All I said was a comment like "screw the bay" tossed into your post was un called for... and the "screw the scup" comment in another post was the same thing especially when you go the opisite way when there are fish in the bay and you baught a boat to fish in the bay.

There is no need to add those things to a post...Saying how fun it was is enough and that you had a good time is all that matters.
